The Office of Research and Economic Development offers study leave grants for qualified faculty every year. They need to collect the application packet, get evaluations from peers and finally generate a report for the VP of Research to make the decision.
The Study Leave application automated the process, it was designed to be unobtrusive and quick to complete. It accepted applications until a deadline set in the application, after which it sent out evaluation requests to the peer faculty. The entire application could be viewed on a single page with all the pdf documents embedded in iframes so that the evaluators can easily glance at the application without any back and forth navigation and offer their recommendations. The application would then generate a report for the Vice-President with all the applications and their evaluations. It was a huge improvement over the manual email based application process and received very positive feedback from the Vice-President and the Faculty.
